Creative and Future Workshop 2012 - New Features at a Glance

It’s just 7 days away—DestinationCamp is back for its second edition! Over the past few weeks and months, we’ve been hard at work and in discussions, discarding some ideas, expanding on others, and—most importantly—incorporating feedback from the 2011 participants.

Now it's time to provide a brief overview of all the changes coming in 2012 and what participants in the second Creative and Future Workshop on Tourism can expect:

Keynote on Friday evening

For the first time, this year’s event will kick off with a keynote address by Hasso von Düring (TUI Leisure Travel GmbH). In light of new markets, distribution channels, and the growing self-confidence of destinations, the sales expert poses the critical question: Who holds the power?

Scenario Workshop on Sunday

Since the group work last year led to some overlap in certain cases, which somewhat limited the extensive interim results from Saturday, we will continue the six thematic workshops on Sunday as well this year, thereby placing an even greater focus on the results: in six scenario workshops, a practical example will be selected for each topic, and opportunities, challenges, and alternative courses of action will be developed for it. Against this backdrop, the documentation of the results will also be far more comprehensive and detailed than last year—the fundamental considerations and solutions for the future will be followed by a concrete example presented as a clear “storyboard.”

New Location

To better highlight the networking atmosphere on Friday evening and make the transition to “bar hours” easier for those interested, we’ve chosen the 25hours Hotel HafenCity this year for the welcome reception, presentation of the topics, and the keynote address. The 25hours is just a few minutes’ walk from the ISM (where the workshop will take place on Saturday and Sunday) and is providing us with its newest event space. Of course, plenty of refreshments (buffet, soft drinks, beer, sparkling wine, and wine) will be available.

Topics and Moderators

We have also streamlined our approach in this area and will only now (after the survey is complete) finalize the selection of the moderators. The moderators and the exact titles of the six thematic tracks will be presented in detail on Friday evening. Here’s a sneak peek: in addition to Georg Ziegler, Head of B2B at HolidayCheck, and Jens Oellrich, Managing Director of Tourismuszukunft—Institute for eTourism, Bernhard Lingg, Managing Director of silberstern pictures&stories and stadium announcer for the Four Hills Tournament, as well as other renowned moderators, will also be participating.

Saturday Evening Plans

Your own ticket, shorter wait times, and direct access to the nightlife—what more can we say? Read more here: On the Reeperbahn until half past midnight...

HamburgCard available on site, discounted travel, etc.

Of course, there will be special tickets available again in 2012 from Deutsche Bahn and Lufthansa, our event airline. In addition, every participant will receive a HamburgCard for the weekend—so you can leave your car at home, spend your taxi money on nightlife, and give your legs a break.

Music and refreshments between workshops

(Almost) everything as usual. Café del Mar legend VARGO will motivate us with a curated selection of music to keep taking on fresh challenges and coming up with new ideas, while Panem et Salis will provide delicious food and drinks. And: samova will welcome you as early as Friday evening with a selection of tea cocktails.
P.S.: It’s worth staying until the very end, because we’ve also prepared a little surprise for you for Sunday lunch!

As always, we're here for you anytime if you have questions or tips—we look forward to seeing you!
