When traveling from Germany, the train is often the most relaxing option. Many routes go through Brussels first. From there, direct trains run at least once an hour and take about 40 minutes to reach Antwerp.

And by the time you arrive, at the very latest, it becomes clear that traveling by train is worth it: Antwerp-Centraal is considered one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. So, under its imposing dome, your visit to Antwerp begins right away with its first architectural highlight.

Once you're there, the extensive tram network will take you quickly through the city and to the various neighborhoods.

Antwerp is also easily accessible by electric car. If you don't want to drive directly into the city center, you can use one of the Park+Ride lots on the outskirts of the city and continue your journey from there by tram or bus.

Important information for driving into the city center: The center of Antwerp is part of a Low Emission Zone (LEZ). Vehicles with foreign license plates generally must be registered in advance to enter the zone. It’s best to check which regulations apply to your vehicle before your trip.

Antwerp Airport, also known as "Antwerp International Airport," is located just about 5 kilometers from the city center and is accessible via public transportation.

Since the smaller City Airport serves only select destinations, there are two well-connected international airports that offer a wider range of flight options:

The "Brussels Airport" is located about 45 kilometers from Antwerp. What’s particularly convenient: Trains run directly from the airport station, located right beneath the terminal, to Antwerp without requiring a transfer—the trip takes about 30 minutes.

Also, the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a good alternative. From there, the Eurocity Direct will take you to Antwerp-Centraal in about 1 hour and 15 minutes without having to change trains.

This way, you'll still have plenty of flexibility even if you're traveling from a bit farther away.
