TOURISM EXPERTS ADDRESS FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS

Finally, it's here: the 60 sessions across 10 thematic areas for DSTNCMP²³ have been finalized.

What happens if the baker also closes? How must workplaces be designed so that today's children want to work in tourism later? Or: How do car-free holidaymakers reach their rural holiday apartment in an environmentally friendly way?

When tourism professionals think about the future, they often see only question marks. The 13th DestinationCamp in Kufstein, Austria, aims to explore the answers and potential solutions. From May 9th to 12th, DSTNCMP²³ will gather over 200 experts from the hotel industry, leisure economy, tourism organizations, consulting firms, academia, service providers, and politics for the first time outside Germany. The four-day program includes 60 two-hour workshops each, presentations, and discussion rounds on ten major thematic areas of the German-speaking tourism industry.

The topics are the result of an online survey conducted in December 2022, which was supervised and evaluated by the MCI Innsbruck Management Center. Scientists and students from the university are also involved in the organization and execution of DSTNCMP²³.

Those who have already secured one of the coveted tickets or are still deciding whether to participate can find information about the ten future workshops here. Digitalization, organization, and tourism management are up for discussion, as are dealing with multiple crises, steps towards sustainable transformation, and paths to future-proof mobility.

What drives "the youth"? How will they change the tourism offerings? Are workation, bleisure, and resilience tourism just trendy niches? Or are they the solution for the new needs of modern holidaymakers? Participants in Kufstein will also be able to actively explore this for themselves for the first time.

The space for thought in German-speaking tourism has been extended by an extra day. The sessions for intellectual work at DSTNCMP²³ are scheduled for the mornings, while afternoons are kept free for experiences in Kufsteinerland, co-working, or leisure. In the evenings, everyone gathers again for the already legendary events at very special – and until recently secret – locations in and around Kufstein.
