THE PROGRAM FOR KUFSTEIN

TOURISM EXPERTS ASK FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS
The time has finally come: the 60 sessions on 10 thematic areas for the DSTNCMP23 have been finalized
What should we do if even the bakery closes? How should jobs be designed so that today’s children will want to work in tourism later on? Or: How can vacationers get to their vacation rental in the countryside in an eco-friendly way without a car?
When tourism professionals look to the future, they often see nothing but question marks. The 13th DestinationCamp in Kufstein, Austria, aims to explore the answers and possible solutions. From May 9 to 12, the DSTNCMP23 over 200 experts from the hotel industry, the leisure sector, tourism organizations, consulting firms, academia, service providers, and politics—for the first time outside of Germany. The four-day program features 60 two-hour working groups, presentations, and panel discussions on ten major topics facing the German-speaking tourism industry.

The topics are the result of an online survey conducted in December 2022, which was supervised and evaluated by the MCI Innsbruck School of Management. Faculty and students from the university are also involved in the organization and operation of the DSTNCMP23 .
Anyone who has already secured one of the coveted tickets—or is still deciding whether to attend—can find out more about the ten Future Workshops here. Topics up for discussion include digitalization, organization, and management in tourism, as well as how to deal with multiple crises, steps toward sustainable transformation, and paths to future-proof mobility.
What drives “young people”? How will they change the tourism landscape? Are “workation,” “bleisure,” and “resilience tourism” just trendy niches? Or are they the solution to the new needs of modern travelers? For the first time, participants in Kufstein will have the opportunity to actively explore these questions for themselves.
The "Denkraum" event in the German-speaking tourism sector has been extended by one day. The sessions for brainstorming will take place at the DSTNCMP23 , while the afternoons are set aside for experiences in the Kufsteinerland region, for co-working, or for leisure time. And in the evenings, everyone gathers again for the now-legendary events at very special—and until the last minute, secret—locations in and around Kufstein.
