b. General Information on Data Processing

Using this website may involve the processing of personal data. Under data protection law, the term “personal data” refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual. An IP address may also constitute personal data. An IP address is assigned to every device connected to the Internet by the Internet service provider so that it can send and receive data. When you use the website, we collect information that you provide yourself. In addition, during your visit to the website, we automatically collect certain information about your use of the website.

We process personal data in compliance with the relevant data protection regulations, in particular the GDPR and the BDSG. We process data only on the basis of legal authorization. When you use this website, we process personal data only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), to fulfill a contract to which you are a party, or at your request to take steps prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), to comply with a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR), or when processing is necessary to protect our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party, provided that your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms requiring the protection of personal data do not take precedence (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

c. Duration of Storage

Unless otherwise specified in the following information, we store the data only for as long as is necessary to achieve the purpose of processing or to fulfill our contractual or legal obligations. Such legal retention requirements may arise, in particular, from commercial or tax laws.

d. Technical service providers

Unless otherwise specified in the following information, data is processed on the servers of technical service providers that we have commissioned for this purpose. These service providers process the data only in accordance with our express instructions and are contractually obligated to ensure adequate technical and organizational measures for data protection. A processor is a natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or other body that processes personal data on behalf of the data controller. Processors do not use the data for their own purposes but carry out data processing exclusively on behalf of the data controller.

02 | Processing Server Log Files

When you use our website for informational purposes only, general information that your browser transmits to our server is initially stored automatically (i.e., without registration). By default, this includes: browser type and version, operating system used, page accessed, previously visited page (referrer URL), IP address, date and time of the server request, and HTTP status code.

The processing is carried out to safeguard our legitimate interests and is based on the legal basis of Article 6(1), first sentence, f of the GDPR. This processing serves the purposes of technical administration and website security. The data is stored for a maximum of 30 days.

03 | Contact Information & Inquiries

Our website includes a contact form that you can use to send us messages. Your data is transmitted in encrypted form. If you do not provide this information, we will not be able to process your request. Providing any additional data is voluntary. Alternatively, you can also send us a message via our contact email address. We process this data for the purpose of responding to your inquiry.

The legal basis for data processing is Article 6(1), first sentence, subparagraph (b) of the GDPR.

04 | Ticket Reservations & WERKSCHAU Orders

a. Ticket booking via pretix (a product of rami.io GmbH)

If you order a product or ticket through our website, we process your personal data through our service provider, pretix (rami.io GmbH, Berthold-Mogel-Straße 1, 69126 Heidelberg, Germany). For ticketing and admission control, pretix requires your contact information, which you enter in the order form.

The legal basis for the processing is Article 6(1), first sentence, point (b) of the GDPR in each case. All data fields marked as required are necessary for processing your reservation or order and for your participation. Failure to provide this information means that we will not be able to process your reservation or order. The provision of additional data is voluntary.

We have integrated the service provider ramio.io GmbH and its booking engine "pretix" into our website via a separate widget, which means that booking data is processed through pretix's servers. Your data is used exclusively for contract fulfillment.

We also use your data for billing purposes in the "moco" ERP system (hundertzehn GmbH, Aeschstrasse 131F, CH-8123 Ebmatingen).

Payments made by credit card, Klarna, Sofortüberweisung, and other digital payment methods are processed by the service provider Stripe (Stripe, Inc., 510 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA) and its authorized service providers, who are solely responsible for these transactions. We do not receive any payment information from Stripe.

b. Consent to Receive Advertising, Section 7(3) of the Unfair Competition Act (UWG)

We may use the email address obtained through the sale of our event, subject to the conditions set forth in Section 7(3) of the German Unfair Competition Act (UWG), for promotional communications regarding our own similar goods or services.

In addition, every DSTNCMP newslettercontains an unsubscribe link.

d. Ordering the WERKSCHAU

If you order a magazine through our website, we process personal data solely for the purpose of fulfilling the contract or to provide you with the issue you ordered. The legal basis for the processing is Article 6(1), first sentence, point (b) of the GDPR in each case. All data fields marked as required are necessary for processing your reservation or order. Failure to provide this information means that we will not be able to process your reservation or order. The provision of additional data is voluntary.

05 | Cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files that your browser stores when you visit a website. This identifies the browser you are using, allowing our web server to recognize it.

We also use persistent cookies. These cookies are automatically deleted after a specified period of time, which may vary depending on the cookie.

To the extent that this use of cookies involves the processing of personal data, such processing is based on the legal basis set forth in Article 6(1), first sentence, f of the GDPR. This processing serves our legitimate interest in making our website more user-friendly, effective, and secure.

You can delete cookies at any time in your browser's security settings. You can generally opt out of the use of cookies through your browser settings. For more information on this, please visit the website of the Federal Office for Information Security.

06 | Consent Management Provider

We have integrated the consent management tool "consentmanager" (www.consentmanager.net) from consentmanager AB (Håltgelvågen 1b, 72348 Västerås, Sweden, info@consentmanager.net) into our website to request consent for data processing and the use of cookies or similar functions.

Using "consentmanager," you have the option to grant or deny your consent for certain features of our website, such as the integration of external elements, streaming content, statistical analysis, audience measurement, and personalized advertising. Using “consentmanager,” you can grant or deny consent for all features, or grant consent for specific purposes or individual features. You can also change the settings you’ve selected at any time.

The purpose of integrating “consentmanager” is to allow users of our website to decide on the aforementioned matters and to offer them the option to change their settings at any time during their continued use of our website. When using “consentmanager,” personal data and information about the devices used (IP address, language, browser, etc.) are processed and transmitted to consentmanager AB. Information about the settings you have configured is also stored on your device.

The legal basis for the processing is Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR in conjunction with Article 7(1) of the GDPR, insofar as the processing serves to fulfill the legally mandated obligations to provide evidence of consent. In all other cases, Article 6(1), sentence 1, subparagraph (f) of the GDPR is the applicable legal basis. Our legitimate interests in the processing lie in the storage of user settings and preferences regarding the use of cookies and the analysis of consent rates. Consent will be requested again no later than 24 months after the user settings are configured. The user settings you have configured will then be stored again for this period, unless you delete the information about your user settings yourself beforehand using the device features provided for this purpose.

You may object to the processing to the extent that it is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Your right to object applies for reasons arising from your particular situation. To exercise your right to object, please contact us via email at info@consentmanager.net.

07 | Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited (Google Ireland/EU), on our website.

Google Analytics is a web analytics service that allows us to collect and analyze data about visitor behavior on our website. Google Analytics uses cookies for this purpose, which enable us to analyze how our website is used. In the process, personal data in the form of online identifiers (including cookie identifiers), IP addresses, device identifiers, and information about interactions with our website is processed.

Some of this data consists of information stored on the device you are using. In addition, cookies are used to store further information on the device you are using. Google Analytics will only store information or access information already stored on your device with your consent.

Google Ireland will process the data collected in this manner on our behalf to analyze how users use our website, to compile reports on activity within our website, and to provide us with other services related to the use of our website and Internet usage. In doing so, pseudonymous user profiles may be created from the processed data.

The use of cookies and the further processing of personal data described here are carried out with your consent. The legal basis for data processing in connection with the Google Analytics service is therefore Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You can revoke this consent at any time with future effect via our Consent Management Tool.

The personal data processed on our behalf for the purpose of providing Google Analytics may be transferred to any country in which Google Ireland or Google Ireland’s subprocessors maintain facilities. The legal basis for this transfer is the Standard Contractual Clauses for the transfer of personal data to third countries pursuant to Article 46(2)(c) of the GDPR.

We use Google Analytics only with IP anonymization enabled. This means that the IP addresses of users located in European Union member states or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area are truncated by Google Ireland. The IP address transmitted by the user’s browser is not combined with any other data.

We use Google Analytics 4. This allows us to associate interaction data from different devices and sessions with a unique user ID. This enables us to put individual user actions into context and analyze long-term relationships.

Data on user actions is stored for a period of 14 months and then automatically deleted. Data whose retention period has expired is automatically deleted once a month.

You can also prevent the information generated by the cookie from being collected by selecting your preferences in our consent banner. To do so, please click the button under "07 | Consent Management Provider" and make your selection.

You can permanently opt out of cross-device tracking by disabling personalized ads in your Google Account; to do so, follow this link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/

For more information on the use of data for advertising purposes, please see Google's Privacy Policy at: www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/

08 | Google AdWords Conversion Tracking

We use the online advertising program Google AdWords from Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; “Google”), through which we place ads on Google. If you visit our website via a Google ad, Google sets a cookie on your device (“conversion cookie”). Each AdWords customer is assigned a different conversion cookie, so the cookies are not tracked across the websites of different AdWords customers. The information collected via the cookie is used to generate conversion statistics. This allows us to determine the total number of users who clicked on one of our Google ads. However, we do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.

To the extent that personal data is processed in this context, this is based on the legal basis of Article 6(1), first sentence, f of the GDPR, and the data processing serves our legitimate business interests. You can opt out of conversion tracking by disabling cookies in your browser settings.

09 | Google Tag Manager

We use a service called Google Tag Manager from Google. “Google” is a group of companies consisting of Google Ireland Ltd. (the service provider), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; and other affiliates of Google LLC. We have entered into a data processing agreement with Google. Google Tag Manager is a support service and processes personal data itself only for technically necessary purposes. Google Tag Manager is responsible for loading other components, which may in turn collect data. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. You can find more information about Google Tag Manager in Google’s Privacy Policy. Please note that U.S. authorities, such as intelligence agencies, may be able to access personal data that is inevitably exchanged with Google via the Internet Protocol (TCP) when this service is integrated, pursuant to U.S. laws such as the Cloud Act.

10 | Embedded Third-Party Services and Content

We use services and content provided by third parties on our website (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Content”). For this integration, it is technically necessary to process your IP address so that the content can be sent to your browser. Your IP address is therefore transmitted to the respective third-party providers.

These include active sessions, current load time, page views per minute, bounce rates, and the Apdes Score (an index for assessing user satisfaction based on Core Web Vitals, such as page load time). To measure these parameters, Pingdom uses various cookies that are stored on the user’s device. However, no personal data, such as the IP address, is transmitted. The cookies generated by Pingdom are stored on your device only if you have previously given your consent via our consent management system. The legal basis for this processing of personal data is therefore Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR in conjunction with Section 25 of the TTDSG.

12 | Withdrawal of Consent

If you have provided us with separate consent to the processing of your data, you may revoke that consent at any time in accordance with Article 7(3) of the GDPR. Such revocation does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of your consent prior to the revocation.

13 | Your Rights

As a data subject, you have the right to exercise your data subject rights with us. In particular, you have the following rights:

  • In accordance with Article 15 of the GDPR and Section 34 of the BDSG, you have the right to request information regarding whether we process personal data about you and, if so, to what extent.
