REALTALK ON DAY 1

May 14, 2011, by Benjamin Buhl

First Impressions from the Event's Opening

More than 90% of the 172 participants attended the welcome event last night—a good start, I'd say.

After the opening remarks and introduction of the project team, the results of the industry survey were presented; these results also serve as the topics for today’s workshops:

  • Between Monarchy and Democracy – Political Commanders and Mercenaries ( Politics & Financing)
  • Teamwork in Destination Marketing ( Collaboration & Partnerships; New Career Paths & Areas of Responsibility)
  • Could Oberstaufen Be Coca-Cola? (Brand Building & Management)
  • Guests = Buyers – The DMO's Role in Sales (Product Development & Sales)
  • The Hotel Industry's Struggle for Survival (Quality Management; Positioning & Pricing)
  • Innovation as a Driving Force ( Innovations & Trends)

This was followed by a presentation of the modified Barcamp concept and a few general organizational notes before the participants signed up for the first sessions. The most important takeaways of the evening: “Show your colors!” and “You can’t get in here without a colorful dot!” ;)

We're looking forward to today's discussions and will report back again…
