DSTNCMP GOES KUFSTEIN IN 2023

July 28, 2022

Kufstein becomes a space for thought in tourism in the D-A-CH region

In its 13th year, DestinationCamp moves from Hamburg to Kufstein

For twelve years, year after year – even under Corona restrictions – well over 200 representatives from tourism, accommodation, leisure industry, technology, science, and platforms met in Hamburg. From May 9 to 12, 2023, Kufstein will now become the next meeting point for German-speaking tourism. DestinationCamp 2023 is moving from the 1.9 million metropolis on the Elbe to the hundredfold smaller Tyrolean town on the Inn. Under the brand insignia DSTNCMP23, tourism experts will further develop trends in German-speaking holiday regions: Kufstein becomes a space for thought in tourism in Germany and the Alpine countries.

Kufstein also reflects the transformation from a work meeting to a "Workation event". The DSTNCMP23 aims to make this trend tangible for participants and simultaneously recommend Tyrol for workation. The neologism stands for the fusion of work and vacation. Two years of pandemic with home offices and closed offices have shown: many tasks can be performed from any holiday location. A change of scenery brings new life experiences and awakens new energies. The holiday environment simultaneously clears the mind for new perspectives and acts as a productivity accelerator for one's own work.

While a DestinationCamp previously focused on three compact and content-intensive days in a single event center, the DSTNCMP23 will now show a new approach:

We are extending the DestinationCamp to four days and distributing it across ten unique locations in Kufstein. This creates additional free time for leisure and experiences in the Kufsteinerland region. And workation workstations will facilitate contact for visiting executives with their colleagues back home.
Benjamin Buhl, Chief Organizer of DSTNCMP

Buhl is the Managing Partner of the organizing netzvitamine GmbH, based in Sonthofen. The netzvitamine team launched DestinationCamp in 2011. For three years, the "industry's space for thought" has operated under the brand insignia DSTNCMP.

The DSTNCMP23 in Kufstein thus also meets the changing needs in the business travel segment. In addition to the Kufsteinerland Tourist Board and the city of Kufstein, the Convention Bureau Tirol and the MCI Innsbruck Management Center are also involved in the organization and execution of DSTNCMP23 . Together, a new approach for a modern conference and congress format is to be developed, which strongly involves local service providers. The pilot project aims to develop a blueprint for other destinations that do not have extensive infrastructure for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE).

Buhl: "Previously, six to nine thematic strands were distributed across meeting rooms in one event center. In Kufstein, we are expanding to ten thematic strands and distributing them across ten locations in the city."

Simply by participants moving between sessions, the DestinationCamp will be very present in the cityscape, fostering contacts between locals and guests. With the accompanying program, our entire city will become the DestinationCamp. This will make the interaction of service providers, multipliers, and partners from associations and city administration visible to both guests and locals.
André Lomsky, Managing Director of the Kufsteinerland Tourist Board

Lomsky and Buhl also expect new impulses from more participants from Alpine destinations due to the relocation of the major event to the small town on the Austrian border: "This also fulfills the desire to include changing locations and to allow more time for discoveries, bilateral discussions, and workation."

Kufstein is easily accessible by train from Austria, Switzerland, and also from Northern Germany or Berlin, which aligns with netzvitamine GmbH's focus on sustainability.
