WHAT WE DO FOR OUR GUESTS!

A Call to Action from Hamburg: "WE'RE HERE FOR OUR GUESTS!"

Two and a half days of lively discussion and very productive sessions in HafenCity have come to an end. Here’s a quick look at the initial results from Saturday’s 4×6 sessions—the rest will follow as soon as possible.

As promised, we’ll also be making all the mind maps, the list of participants, etc., available—please bear with us a little longer on this. We’ll also organize the complete results as soon as possible and then make them available to the entire industry in a suitable format…

The conclusion is clear: No destination can function without “US” —a DMO needs a high-quality hospitality industry, and the hospitality industry needs a network-oriented and visionary DMO. And all other service providers, platforms, vendors, and so on must pull together. Specifically: for the “Guest” project.

I’d like to take this opportunity to express a truly heartfelt THANK YOU of my own: First and foremost, to everyone who was there in Hamburg—the participants. For your trust in a new concept. For the many great and, above all, insightful contributions. The experiences. The expertise. And the willingness to break new ground, sit down with all the stakeholders, and engage in forward-thinking discussions. That was truly impressive (as far as I can tell)—wow!

And then, of course, a big thank you to the sponsors who made this event possible in the first place. Thank you to all the hard-working people behind the scenes and in the spotlight: the students, the caterer, the musicians, and the entire team—and above all, for me, Ute Dallmeier from ISM, who really gave it her all here, from securing sponsors in late 2010 to cleaning the carpet on Sunday evening. To everyone I may have forgotten or not mentioned by name (because otherwise this list would surely go on forever): Thank you!… In short: I’m just a tiny bit proud of how smoothly everything went here!

But now for the preliminary results, and below are a few more impressions from Day 3—more coming soon; for now, let’s just let it all sink in ;) On a personal note: it was great—and with a few minor tweaks, I think we can definitely consider doing it again…
