OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO THEDSTNCMP²⁶

BRIXEN AND NEUSTIFT ABBEY WERE THE PERFECT HOSTS FOR THE 16TH DESTINATIONCAMP

Comments on social media platforms poured in: Rarely before had a DestinationCampbeen as clearly, as it was in Brixen 2026 , both an industry gathering, a space for reflection, and a space for experience. TheDSTNCMP²⁶, held May 5–7, proved to be a unique event for destination tourism—the venues, Brixen and Neustift Abbey in South Tyrol, were a stroke of luck for all participants.

In Brixen, all participants were able to experience transformation firsthand, even through the side events. Werner Zanotti of Brixen Tourism and Mayor Andreas Jungmann impressively demonstrated what transformation can achieve in the areas of lodging, architecture, and urban, regional, and industrial development.

More than 220 experts from the fields of tourism, academia, the hospitality industry, travel agencies, technology, and online platforms gathered in South Tyrol’s oldest city for the16th DestinationCamp.

75% of the participants were from Germany, 15% from Austria, 8% from South Tyrol, and 2% from Switzerland. About 53% of the participants fell into the category “Destinations, Associations, and Service Providers,” 28% into “Systems, Service Providers, and Platforms,” and the remaining 19% into “Universities, Consulting, Advertising, and Communication.”

We have been developing tourism, agriculture, culture, and industry hand in hand for years.

WESTERN LAKE CONSTANCE WINSTHEDSTNCMP²⁶AWARD

Breaking down big ideas to fit small budgets, boldly pursuing innovation—that’s what the DSTNCMP-Award aims to inspire. In 2026, the focus was once again not on elaborate innovation projects, but on unconventional “just give it a try” approaches. In a combined vote by the jury and the audience, the “Accessible Western Lake Constance” campaign week from Konstanz was awarded theDSTNCMP²⁶ Prize. Second place went to the HÆDI Festival in St. Peter-Ording, which uses music, workshops, art, and innovative ideas to make the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals tangible and experiential. Third place went to the “Fashion Meets Destination” campaign by Linking Brands. The agency partnered the Zillertal region with the young fashion label “Stoked & Woke” to appeal to younger target audiences.

DESTINATIONCAMPGETS EVEN MORE INTERNATIONAL:DSTNCMP²⁷ JUNE 15–17, 2027, IN ANTWERP

Following Kufstein, Bregenz, and Brixen, in 2027 Antwerp will add another international highlight to the annual space for thought and experience. According to the organizers of DestinationCamp, the city with Europe’s second-largest port is “a prime example of how culture, commerce, and the creative economy can be woven together into compact, marketable experiences.” Antwerp is sophisticated, elegant, and edgy all at once—a hub for avant-garde fashion and progressive art. With its blend of tradition and youthful student vibes, the city combines historic charm with a rebellious, creative energy.

With the 17th DestinationCamp, we are placing an even greater emphasis on internationalization. This will allow participants to learn from the best in Europe and then adapt these new ideas to their own spheres of influence.
Benjamin Buhl (netzvitamine GmbH), Chief Organizer of DestinationCamp

The principle—proven in Brixen—of combining spaces for thought and experience will be maintained despite a streamlined program, which begins on Tuesday evening, with the opening and keynote on Wednesday morning, and sessions as well as netzvitamineABEND on Thursday evening.
